Popular Fiction 1: Free Workshop

Popular fiction is genre-driven. It includes genres such as romance, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and mystery just to name a few. In this 4-week workshop, writers learn how to build momentum and satisfy reader expectations for each genre. Through the reading of selected popular fiction genres, the writer will gain an understanding of how craft elements are employed in these sub-genres. Our writing exercises will help us build on what we have learned from our readings. Each writer will be given the opportunity to have up to 5 written pages of their work critiqued by their workshop cohort. This workshop is in English. Participants should be able to write and discuss in the English language.

Workshop Details 

Duration: 4 weeks, 2-hour sessions
When: Saturdays, 25 July – 15 August / 10:00–12:00
Where: Online via Zoom

We meet once a week for four weeks. Whether you're in Malmö or anywhere in Europe, you're welcome to join. Writers who can't attend the first session will receive a full outline and cohort introduction by email, and we'll get to know you properly in the following Zoom session.
